English, Konkani clash at
MMC meet
MARGAO:
It was a language controversy of a different sort which surfaced
during the Margao municipal council (MMC) meeting yesterday
evening.
When
Ms Monica Dias, a councillor, started questioning chairperson,
Ms Kamalini Poinguinkar, in English, ruling councillor, Mr
Caetan Barbosa objected to it. Why English? You should ask
questions in Konkani, he remarked which sparked off an argument
between Ms Dias and Mr Barbosa.
If
chairperson Ms Poinguinkar does not understand it why is the
council distributing meeting agenda in English, questioned Ms
Dias pointing at the agenda signed by Ms Poinguinkar.

The most whimsical of all creations is the song ‘’PHILOMENA” will feature on popular request on sponsorship basis. This particular song will bring back the wistful memory of an earlier time with a sentimental yearning of the past. Although Wilfy attributes his songs more to the changing tastes than to the mind-boggling quantity, Philomena remains as an exception to this rule.
Sponsorship is invited ( from Abudhabi to Australia & from UAE to USA )
which will cost you UAE Dirhams 200/-(About USD 60/-) exclusively for this song
“PHILOMENA”. Sponsor`s name will be announced during the course of the function and also will be published in DIVO, the Konkani weekly newspaper.
A world record is expected for highest number in sponsorship for a song ,
Wilfy may remember this record and support of his well wishers for along time to come.Keep humming the tune in your dreams. Contact:
