"Bayya Mallige" A
Konkanni -Tulu Musical Concert on
4th October 2001 in Dubai.
The South Kanarite Community in
the UAE will be organising a special regional Konkanni-Tulu
cultural concert, named `Bayya Mallige a Twilight of Fragrance -
on Thursday evening
7.30pm
, 4th of October 2001, at the Ice Rink of Al Nasr
Leisureland,
Dubai
.
Honourable
Ex-defense Minister of India and Member of Parliament, Mr.
George Fernandes, who will be in
Dubai
on an unofficial visit, will grace the occasion.
During
his visit to the UAE, Mr. Fernandes, will inaugurate the
Information & Learning Centre of Gulf Medical College Ajman,
the very first Medical College of the UAE,
established by the industrious South Kanarite Business
House, The Thumbay Group. The
function of inauguration will include an interactive session
with the representatives of
Indian Community followed by a Key Note speech from the
distinguished guest.
In the evening, the South Kanarite community has organised a
cultural programme, named `Bayya Mallige, to proudly host a
function of felicitation to Mr. Fernandes in recognition of his
service of a lifetime, upholding the causes of social justice
and selfless service to the nation.
This would be followed by presentation of Appreciation
Awards to the nominated personalities of South Kanara.
Some of the award nominees include Industrialist Mr. B.
R. Shetty, noted environmentalist Mr. Balakrishna Shetty and
acclaimed Konkanni master stage performer Mr. Francis Fernandes
Cascia.
The
Bayya Mallige cultural programme will feature a wide variety of
regional entertaining performances.
Musical Concert would be performed by Mandd
Sobhann fame Leslie DCunha with his 12 member beat group
(including Junior Mohd. Rafi Mr. Riaz and Saregama fame Ms. C.
Shobana) to pulsate the audiences to the rhythms of Polka and
Baila. Widely
acclaimed Konkan King of Comedy, Mr. Francis Fernandes Cascia,
along with Dian D'Souza, Paul Almeida, Alwyn Pinto, Veronica
Rego and Janet D'Souza- will parade his astounding
parodies. An
eloquent dance troupe will nurture the live songs with a medley
of dance gyrates. And
as a final winder,
an audience lead dance sequence for an hour full of Baila Masala
Noted
colomnist, writer and stage artist, Mr. Stephen Mascarenhas (Hemacharya)
will compere the event. He will be accompanied by Mr. Walter
Nandalike.
To
encourage one and all to participate in this gala event, ticket
fares have been priced at a bare minimum of Dhs. 10, 20 and 50
said Adolph Lobo, the Organiser of the Middle East Concerts.
