Dear valued visitors, we have been receiving several news items pertaining to Konkanni Christian community. Since ours is a site which basically caters to the Konkanni cultural needs, so far we had refused to publish this.  But, after considering lot of enthusiasm and interest among our people to cover this type of news, we have introduced now a separate news column, which in future, will publish merely news related to Konkanni Christian community. Kallianpur - Kundapur Varado Sahamilan in Dubai 


St.Anthony's Konkani Zamath Kallianpur-Kundapur Varado Dubai celebrated their 2nd program on 5th October at 6.00 P.M. in Richmond Hotel very sumptuously.
Chief guests of the programs were Mr.C.J.S. Thakode the popular Konkani writer and Rev. Fr. Dennis D'Sa The Director of Sandesha, Mangalore.
Mr.Charles Mascarenas (Kallianpur) the President of Kallianpur - Kundapur Varado Welcomed all the attendees and Mr.Herbert Menezes (Barkur) - Secretary, gave a brief on the activities of the Konkani Zamath.

Mr.C.J.S. Thakode expressed that we should support the people from Mangalore and Rev. Fr.Dennis D' Sa Blessed the Konkani Zamath to be energetic and stronger in the
future.
A colorful cultural program Songs, Dances, Skits & Drama presented by the members of the Konkani Zamath was the highlight of the evening and was appreciated
by each and all of the 170 audience attended. 
An amount of Rs.25000/= collected on same day was send to the 2 needy person. 
Program was concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms.Margaret Lewis, Vice President, compere by Mr.Ronnie Baindoor. 
Mr.Avil Lewis (Kundapur), Mr.Eric D'Souza (Perampalli) and their team responsible for the well organized program.

LATE ROCKY FERNANDES FLAG POST

Udupi, October 25:  Before and after India's independance Rocky Fernandes was  a Headmaster in Udupi.  He was well known in Udupi for his social work.  Udupi district Congress party inaugurated a flag post in memory of late Rocky Fernandes.  Same day Udupi district Congress party office and their dotcom was also inaugurated by Shri Oscar Fernandes (son of late Rocky Fernandes), All India Congress Congress (I) chief secretary.  We should plan our programs to uplift less fortunate in our communities.  On behalf of Fernandes family, Shri Oscar thanked Congress committee for honoring his dad by erecting a flag post in his name.  Several Congress party leaders brought back memories of late Rocky-maistry - his charisma, leadership and his well disciplined life with students.

NEW MULKY CHURCH INAUGURATED

Mulki, October 25:
  In the center of Mulky-Karnad, new Mulky church was inaugurated by Bishop Aloysius D'Souza today.  Vicar General Msgr. Edwin Pinto, Karnataka minister Shri B. Ramanatha Rai, Member of Parliament Shri Oscar Fernandes and Shri Vinayakumar Sorake, Sahithya Parishad president Shri Harikrishna Punarooru and MLA Shri Abhayachandra were the guests of honour.  Total cost for the new church was Rs. 55 lakhs.  Old church was built in 1894 by Rev. J. J. D'Souza and now there are 300 Catholic families belongs to this parish.  Rev. Mathias Pereira who joined this church as parish priest took this great task of renovation.  It took only one year to complete this beautiful new church.

MILAGRESE N.S.S. CAMP

Pambur, October 23:  Kalyanpur Milagrese College N.S.S. (National Service Scheme) unit held it's 10 days annual camp at Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Center, Pambur-Padubelle.  Milagrese College Principal and N.S.S. unit Director Fr. Valerian Mendonca presided over the inauguration.  Pambur Holy Cross Church parish priest, Fr. Herald Menezes inaugurated the camp by lighting deepa.  "All programs which are called 'serving the community' are not reaching their purpose; serving others should come from the bottom of the heart and nobody should expect any return from serving the needy", said Fr. Menezes in his speech.

To build self confidence these camps are helping our students and these camps are very useful said  Shri Cyril Quadros inaugurating N.S.S. activities for the community.  Belle grama panchayat president Smt. Hilda Martis, Manasa Trust secretary Shri Denis D'Silva, Pambur Unit Catholic Sabha president Shri Louis Alva, Bantakallu Lions Club president Shri Bhaskara Shetty, Lions Club of Kalyanpura president Shri Valerian Fernandes gave advise to the students in their speeches.  Manasa Rehabilitation Center president Dr. Edward Lobo, vice president Dr. Gerald Pinto were present for this leadership camp.  Shri Denis D'Silva briefly introduced Manasa Center.  Camp leader Shri Purushotham  welcomed the gathering and Smt. Clara Menezes gave vote of thanks.  Ms. Sylvia Rebello was the M.C. for the program.

DAY CARE CENTER AT KANKANADY FR. MULLER'S HOSPITAL

Mangalore, October 19:
 To take care of mentally ill patients, Mangalore's famous Fr. Muller's Hospital at Kankanady inaugurated it's 'Day Care Center'  in thier Mental Disease section of the hospital today.  Fr. Muller's Hospital's Director Rev. Dr. Baptist Menezes inaugurated this new facility.  Corporation Bank Chairman Mr. Cherian Varghese was the chief guest of honour.
